What The Online Texas LTC Class Covers
The Online Texas LTC Class covers the classroom portion of the Texas License to Carry process. Texas requires four to six hours of classroom instruction, and this course is built around that requirement. It covers the laws that apply to carrying a handgun in Texas. It also covers safe handling and storage, conflict avoidance, and the parts of the process that come after the classroom work.
You may also see this called a Texas CHL class or a Texas handgun license class. CHL was the older term. It is the same license.
The course ends with a written exam. After that, you still have the in-person range instruction, the proficiency demonstration, and your DPS application ahead of you.

What You Are Buying
You are buying the classroom portion of the Texas License to Carry course. It is delivered online by Texas Carry Academy, which identifies itself as a Texas DPS certified online LTC course provider. First Shot Training links you to it. Texas Carry Academy handles registration, payment, course access, and delivery.
Texas requires four to six hours of classroom instruction. The online course is built around that requirement and ends with a written exam.
That is what the enrollment price covers. It does not cover the state application fee, the range appointment, or fingerprinting.
What Still Has to Happen
Range instruction and a proficiency demonstration. These happen in person, with a qualified Texas LTC instructor. They are not part of the online course, and First Shot Training does not run them. You can do this part before or after the online classroom portion.
Your Texas DPS application. You apply directly with the Texas Department of Public Safety. The standard application fee for an original license is $40. Some applicants qualify for reduced or waived state fees.
Fingerprints. Fingerprinting belongs to the state application and costs extra. DPS directs you to the approved process after your application has been submitted.
Training documentation. Your instructor completes the certificate that records both the classroom portion and the range portion. That documentation goes to DPS with your application.
